Visitors to Florence often put shopping at the top of their list of desired activities. Now they can enjoy a guilt free shopping experience with the chance to purchase beautiful hand embroidered scarves. From June 8th to 10th the Palazzo Corsini Garden in Florence will be transformed into a magical world of color and texture. Scarves hand made in India and Bangladesh by women from SEWA will be on sale.
SEWA (Self Employed Women Association) is an organisation of poor, self-employed female workers which has branches around the world. These are women who earn a living through their own labour or small businesses. They are the unprotected labour force of their country. Of the female labour force in India, more than 94% are in the unorganised sector. The Corsini family have collaborated with this organisation for years and are happy to offer the use of their beautiful historic gardens.
This event will take place in the gardens of Palazzo Corsini on via del Prato, 58 on Tuesday June 8th from 3 pm to 7 pm and Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th June from 10 am to 7 pm.
