Feast day of Saint John the Baptist tomorrow!

Tomorrow on June 24 Florence will celebrate the birth of the John the Baptist, Patron Saint of Florence. The feast of Saint John the Baptist has been celebrated in Florence since medieval times with festivals lasting three days. Visitors to Florence these days will have to suffice with one day of festivities. The highlight of which is a glorious procession involving the entire clergy of the Duomo and a fireworks display in the evening.

The fireworks display lights up the sky above Piazza Michelangelo at 10 pm. The best place to view the fireworks display is from the banks of the Arno River.

Offices and shops will be closed on June 24 but Artviva’s tours will be running as normal.
