When one thinks of Italian cuisine, the mind naturally goes to pasta, and perhaps secondly to the delicious range of desserts the land is famous for. But one often-found food (both as an alternative to pasta, and also as a featured ingredient in many delicious sweets) is rice!
Starting this Friday, 17th September at 6.00pm, there is the inauguration of the ‘RICE ? I sapori del riso’ festival honouring the flavours of rice. You can learn about (and taste!) recipes dating from ancient times to the present, gaining an under standing of the traditions, techniques and recipes.
The event is being organised by the Consorzio A.S.T. – Agenzia per lo Sviluppo Territoriale (Territorial Development Agency) in conjuction with Slow Food Lombardia, with cooperation from the City of Vigevano where the event is being held.
Vigevano is a town in the province of Pavia, Lombardy, in the northern part of Italy. It is famous for its rice production.
