Florentine Florens Fever

This week, Florence is mad with Florens fever. No, it’s not an illness plaguing locals, but rather ‘la Settimana Internazionale dei Beni culturali e ambientali di Firenze’ ? international cultural and Environmental Week.

Florens 2010 (November 12-20, 2010) is a culture and landscape biennial event focusing on artisan craftsmanship and industry, and particularly cultural heritage and the economy that goes with that.

Over 150 events, plus exhibitions and conferences that are being held in historic locations around the city with participants from around the world.

A replica of Michelangelo’s David has been situated on the steps of the Duomo (cathedral) that centerpieces the historical city centre of Florence. Weighing in at 400 kg, David was craned in last week as part of the Florens event.

Florens is actually the Latin name for Florence.
