Verona has been historically known as the home of Shakespeare’s lovebirds Romeo and Juliet. But for 46 years, a new -and much more enduring- romance has been taking place there.
We’re talking Vinitaly, Italy’s most celebrated wine fair.
Each year since 1967, Vinitaly has seen international wine produces exhibiting their finest. Now with around 4,000 wineries showing their wares to approximately 150,000 visitors, Vinitaly is one of the largest and best wine fairs in the world.
Vinitaly 2012 runs from 25th-28th March and features wines and spirits produced from organic and biodynamic agriculture as part of the ViViT-Wines, Winegrowers and Terroirs. Workshops, exhibitions, competitions and buyers programs make up another component of this exiting wine fare in Italy. There are also awards given as part of The International Wine Competition, International Packaging Competition and the Vinitaly International Award. Then there is the Salone del Vino that includes Sol (Salone Internazionale dell’Olio d’Oliva Extravergine di Qualità) presenting extra-virgin olive oils, the Agrifood Club, and Enolitech.
And if that all gets too overwhelming, you can also visit the Vinitaly for You wine bar where you can sit and relax in the historical city centre of Verona and enjoy the fruits of the wine maker’s labour!
