Morning Walk on the Cobbled Streets of Florence

After a deliciously frothy cappuccino and flaky pastry from our favourite bakery, we set out for an early morning walk around the charming historical city centre of Florence.

Stepping out onto the streets of Florence, we passed our local baker out hand-delivering the just-baked pastries to the local coffee shops, sweet delights destined to be enjoyed as part of the typical Italian breakfast fare, the scent of coffee mingling with the fresh morning air.

We passed market stall workers stoically lugging their wooden carts along the alleyways to be set up in the San Lorenzo and Mercato Nuovo markets in Florence.

A chef buzzed past us on his motorino (scooter) returning from the fresh food markets with trays of hand-picked produce expertly balanced on every available surface of the scooter, on his way to the kitchen to start preparing the delicious traditional Italian recipes to be enjoyed by those dining in Florence.

Early rising visitors were to be seen seeking the next must-see sight of Florence, maps being turned this way and that as they tried to figure out the wonderful maze of Florence’s historical city centre.

And then there was us.
