‘Twas two nights before Christmas in Florence, Italy

Winter in Florence, Italy and it’s Christmastime. The city streets buzz with locals out shopping for those last-minute gifts, taking an evening stroll to admire the Christmas lights or heading out to meet and greet friends for a Christmas drink.

We headed out to tour around the city streets of Florence, admiring the Christmas lights and the beautiful tree and Presepio in Piazza Duomo. (And seeing some girls dedicated to their art by planking on the cold marble steps of Piazza Duomo – see photo!!)

On the cobbled streets, the few people we passed smiled our way and wished us ‘Auguri’ (well wishes) for the season.

We rambled around the historical city centre, along the river, through the must-see sights and squares of Florence.

Finally, we came to the Christmas markets in Piazza Santa Croce, where we warmed our hands with a glass of mulled wine sitting on the benches around the piazza, facing towards the beautiful façade of the Santa Croce Basilica.

‘Tis the season.
